New Cadet Centre at Walker Technology College

At the start of the new term Nick visited Walker Technology College to see their Ministry of Defence cadet training centre. Walker Tech was one of only six schools nationwide to be awarded the scheme two years ago, and Nick was delighted to see how well the scheme is working.
Nick and Cllr David Wood, the Chairman of the School’s Governors, had previously lobbied Government Defence Ministers to see the centre awarded to Walker Tech. Nick said “We worked really hard to get the centre here, and it was great to visit and see how well things are coming along.”
Walker Tech has also been one of several schools across Newcastle to benefit from renovation works as part of the £22bn Building Schools for the Future programme, the biggest school rebuilding project ever.
