I joined representatives of the UK Bangladeshi community on 26 March in Parliament to celebrate the 48th anniversary of the country’s independence. The recent General Election in December saw a record number of young MPs, female MPs and MPs from minority religious and ethnic communities enter Parliament, some of whom have been appointed to ministerial roles.
