Unfortunately, a joint bid from Newcastle and Gateshead failed to make the shortlist for Channel 4’s new headquarters. However, the bid did make the shortlist to potentially house one of Channel 4’s two new creative hubs. Newcastle-Gateshead is now up against Belfast, Brighton, Nottingham, Sheffield and Stoke. To have a creative hub in Newcastle-Gateshead would be a huge boost to film and TV production in the region and I hope that Channel 4 will see the many benefits of settling on Tyneside.
