The Labour Party candidate, Lisa Forbes, beat the Brexit Party in a by-election to become the new Member of Parliament for Peterborough. This is an important result and a testament to the hard-work of many Labour activists on the ground. I went to Peterborough the week before the by-election to lend a hand door knocking and met a number of people supporting Lisa to become the MP for both local and national reasons. Visiting Peterborough, the day after the by-election, the leader of the Labour Party, Jeremy Corbyn, called it an incredible win for the “politics of hope over the politics of fear”.
