I marked World Hearing Day by meeting with representatives of the National Association of Deafened People (NADP). They aim to identify and promote improvements in the quality of life of deafened people leading to their full participation in all aspects of society.

In the UK, 5% or more of the population suffers with hearing loss. Timely and effective intervention can reduce the impact that this has on individual lives and ensures that people with hearing loss are able to achieve their full potential. In addition to hearing aids the society also promotes auditory and speech rehabilitation, sign language and assistive technologies and services.
