This year’s VE Day marked the 75th Anniversary of the end of World War 2. I joined with people from across the country in a two-minute silence remembering the sacrifices of those who died protecting our freedom. Although commemorations were very different than what was planned for this special anniversary, I am glad that we could, together as a country, remember them. I also want to thank our armed forces’ role in helping the fight against coronavirus. This current crisis again shows how the armed forces help keep us safe. It is essential that the Government does the same for them and provides them with access to testing and proper protections. The Labour Party will continue to stand up for our worldleading armed forces and for their contribution as a force for good at home and overseas.
