I recently supported my colleague Chi Onwurah MP and her letter to Richard Masters, Chief Executive of the Premier League raising a number of questions on the recent proposed takeover of Newcastle United. I recognise that concern is widespread in the city, nowhere more so than in our constituency of Newcastle East. I have therefore written my own letter to the Premier League to reinforce the points made by Chi. In particular, I asked questions regarding the length of time fans were kept waiting for a decision and the lack of transparency throughout.
