Nick Brown MP MP for Newcastle upon Tyne East
I have now received a response from Richard Masters, Chief Executive of the Premier League in response to my letter raising a number of questions about the proposed takeover of Newcastle United. In particular, I asked questions regarding the length of time fans were kept waiting for a decision and the lack of transparency throughout.
Mr Masters said that Newcastle United recently publicly announced that it has commenced arbitration proceedings against the Premier League in connection with a proposed takeover of the club. He went on to say that given that the parties have agreed that the arbitration is to be a confidential process, there is very little he was able to disclose regarding this specific case. I continue to believe that the English Premier League should have engaged with fans throughout the process and would like to see them be more transparent.
