Despite a disappointing set of results nationally, in East Newcastle I was very pleased to see that Labour won in all 9 wards. This includes marginal seats like North Jesmond and Ouseburn where we won by 50 and 53 votes respectively. I want to congratulate all those who were reelected and our new councillors, Stephen Sheraton in Byker, Tanya Pretswell in North Jesmond and Charlie Gray in South Jesmond. Thanks also to Nick Arnold who stood for us in Dene and South Gosforth which is shared between our constituency and Newcastle North. I enjoyed getting out on campaign sessions across the constituency and want to thank everyone who helped whether on the phone through Dialogue or face-to-face on the doorstep.
