I remain strongly concerned about the welfare of civilians, particularly women and girls, in Kabul and elsewhere in Afghanistan, as the Taliban took control of the country in August. I have received a significant amount of casework on this and have been urgently supporting safe family reunion for Afghan interpreters and others who worked with British living in my constituency. So far, I have received details of over 250 relatives of constituents who are or have been stuck in Afghanistan. My representations have assisted in uniting families, though not without difficulties with the Home Office. I want to commend the bravery of the British troops who were deployed to the country to secure the airport and ensured the safe evacuation of thousands of eligible citizens.
