I am aware of concerns about anti-social behaviour, particularly in Jesmond. I have been liaising with the police, Newcastle City Council and Northumbria and Newcastle universities on this. I attended a virtual meeting with residents and representatives from the universities. I listened to residents’ concerns and made representations on their behalf. Both the Council and universities have agreed to distribute skips to streets where excessive waste is resulting in over flowing bins and in some cases, fly-tipping. However, more needs to be done and I will meet with residents over the summer recess.

In a meeting with Winton Keenen, Chief Constable of Northumbria Police, I raised the issue of anti-social behaviour. I will continue to monitor progress in dealing with anti-social behaviour in East Newcastle and continue to take up casework on behalf of constituents who are affected. Separately I raised the issue of the Police, Crime, Courts and Sentencing Bill demonstrations in Newcastle.
