I met with Homelessness charity Crisis last week as they launched their new ‘Home For All’ campaign in Parliament. They explained how the current model relies heavily on a ‘staircase model’, which starts with emergency options like night shelters and hostels rather than getting people back into a home of their own as quickly as possible. Their new approach to ending homelessness prioritises housing and giving people the support they need to keep a home, starting with the rollout of Housing First. I also had the chance to hear the experience of someone who Crisis had helped off the streets.
