Nick Brown MP MP for Newcastle upon Tyne East
I visited Howard Street Stores on the St Ann’s Close estate. Residents were worried about the new charges introduced on the cash point inside the store. This means residents of the St Ann’s Close and Gibson Street estates do not have free and convenient access to their own cash. This is particularly a problem for those with mobility and health issues.
I met with LINK, who provide cash point services in the UK. I am arranging a visit to the area to show them the difficulty in accessing free cash by walking with them from the St Ann’s estate to the nearest free cash point. I also met with Lloyds Bank to discuss free access to cash more generally. I am dealing with a similar issue in Walker as well.
