Since March 2020, tens of thousands of St John volunteers have given more than a million hours of their time to care for people in hospitals, on ambulances, at events and through community projects. They have also been an essential contributor to the delivery of the NHS COVID-19 vaccination programme. I was able to thank volunteers from the Life Centre in Newcastle.
