Instead of relentlessly focusing on tackling the Coronavirus pandemic and the growing cost-of-living crisis, the Prime Minister is preoccupied with trying to get himself off the hook. He has admitted attending another Downing Street party, this time when the country was under the strict first lockdown to prevent the NHS from being overwhelmed and to save lives.
I am appalled that the Prime Minister broke the rules and seriously concerned that he is planning to continue as the leader of the country, particularly during a pandemic when trust in the Prime Minister is essential to public health. As Boris Johnson said in his statement to the House of Commons in December, there must be “consequences for those involved if the rules were broken”. He must do the right thing for the country and resign.
