Approximately 3400 people live with dementia in Newcastle. By 2030, it is predicted that this will increase by 31% to 4370. I am concerned that only 71% of the people living with dementia in Newcastle have received a medical diagnosis. This is compared to 79% in December 2019. This means around 830 people living with dementia in Newcastle are undiagnosed and therefore going without the care they need. I have asked the Department for Health and Social Care what steps they are taking to increase the diagnosis rate of those suffering with dementia in Newcastle.
